I’m a Geology student at Utah State University, going out for a teaching certificate, and hopefully pre-Law. I’m single, a Mormon (not a very good one, mind you), bisexual, and my political views are from all over the spectrum.
I grew up in one of the most liberal cities in the United States: Ann Arbor, Michigan. It influenced me quite a bit, but being a white Christian male, I also felt the brunt of society’s anger at my perceived privilege, and soon came to resent the cultural Left. Now, I live in the reddest of the Red States, and it’s started to grow on me. I love Western Swing, I own a very nice pair of cowboy boots, and I am proud of my ability to burp the alphabet.
However, I don’t believe in throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I’m truly grateful for the chance to study the Arts that I got in Ann Arbor. I love Shakespeare, I’m a Greek mythology whizz, and I can’t get enough of Italian art. I agree with the Left on the death penalty, economics, and the environment. I grew up a Democrat, but left the party, and I refuse to become a Republican. I love all religions (though I’m iffy about Reform Judaism and disgusted by Dianic Wicca), and hate militant atheists and religious fundamentalists equally.
The two things I despise above all else are snobbery and a complete lack of culture. That’s more or less made me what I am today: an educated, artsy Hippie Redneck. I’m proud of my unpredictability.
